About the Role
The Pedagogical and Digital Development Lead will play an important role in enhancing teaching and learning experiences at SSE. This role is central to positioning SSE as a leader in pedagogical innovation among business schools globally. You will be working closely with faculty to drive change in education, integrate AI and sustainability, develop policies, and support faculty through various development initiatives. You will report to the Academic Strategy Lead Teaching and Learning.

- Strategic Contribution:
- Being part of the Pedagogy Team, which consists of about 5 people, to enable innovation and development.
- Work closely with the Vice President of Degree Programs, Heads of Departments, and other key stakeholders including SSE Executive Education.
- Contribute to strengthening SSE’s global reputation for pedagogical excellence.
- AI and Digital Development:
- Drive SSE’s efforts to stay at the forefront of AI and other digital developments in education.
- Enhance faculty access to innovative teaching tools, including AV recording spaces, and virtual teaching environments.
- Policy and Guidelines:
- Develop and maintain comprehensive policies and documentation to support faculty in their teaching efforts.
- Ensure that teaching practices align with SSE’s strategic priorities, including sustainability and the educational mission FREE.
- Faculty Development:
- Design and deliver courses, workshops, and coaching tailored to individual, departmental, and cross-functional needs.
- Expand faculty services, such as support for course design, training in use of digital tools, and structured support in course improvement.
- Launch and oversee initiatives like “The Inclusive Classroom” and AI peer-learning groups.
- Research and Outreach:
- Support research in teaching and learning to refine pedagogical practices.
- Organize and facilitate events such as symposia, pedagogical conferences, and roundtable discussions.
- International Collaboration:
- Strengthen ties with world-class business schools and participate in international networks.
- Share SSE’s pedagogical initiatives and best practices to enhance its global reputation.
Qualifications and Skills
- A PhD in a relevant field, or equivalent, with a strong academic foundation.
- Strong knowledge of trends in higher education, including AI.
- Experience in pedagogical development.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and collaborate with diverse teams.
- A passion for advancing teaching excellence and fostering an inclusive educational environment.
