SSE Business Lab

About the role

Are you the person who’s always in the know about the latest developments in the startup ecosystem in Sweden and internationally? Do you have experience working at a fast-growing startup or at a VC? Do you listen to the latest podcasts, read the latest books and tech newspapers?

SSE Business Lab is looking to add another Program Manager to the team, to be responsible for supporting early-stage startups as they accelerate their growth, get traction and expand. By being responsible for processes like coaching, workshop facilitation and more, you will help develop the startups in the incubator throughout their journey, by supporting them in areas such as fundraising, business development and strategy. This is an all-around role, where you actively engage with the startups daily as they meet challenges in everything from recruiting to SEO, connecting the startups with the right people.

This role is broad and flexible with a lot of room for personal growth, where you will be in charge of your own processes and encouraged to develop your areas of responsibility. By continuously contributing with new ideas and feedback, you will help improve the processes to increase their quality and the high success rate of our startups.

Work responsibilities

Just as in startups, you experiment, learn, problem-solve, and adjust as you go. Your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Learning to improve: Explore the current and future needs of our startups, recognize growth opportunities and act on them, through actively engaging in their journeys.
  • Building processes for growth: Set routines to create a more automated workflow to improve the team’s performance and thereby increase the ability to support.
  • Executing value-creating activities: Plan and execute member activities such as onboarding days, workshops and knowledge exchange events among the members to leverage the competence in the network.
  • Attracting new high-profile startups: Increase recruitment to our programs by being read-up on the latest trends and startups in the ecosystem to make sure we find relevant entrepreneurs to support, and ways of supporting them.
  • Building relationships with key people: Help build our pool of resources by continuously adding to our list of contributors, such as coaches, mentors, workshop facilitators, etc.

Is this you?

This is a role for someone who is a natural problem-solver and doer. You are likely to be described as an autonomous and responsible person, who is eager to learn new things and adapt to new environments. You are flexible, service-minded and enjoy taking initiative and acting on ideas in a fast-paced and entrepreneurial team. We believe that you are a few years into your career, with experience from the startup world and with a strong interest in startups and insights into the ecosystem.

Requirements

  • Startup experience: You have a strong interest in following the startup scene and experience from working at your own startup, with business development at a scalable startup, or working at an incubator or Venture Capital fund.
  • Service-minded: People rise to greatness when they are in a good environment, our mission is therefore to provide our entrepreneurs with the best conditions possible for them to succeed.
  • Structured: We’re always busy breeding unicorns. Organizing your work in a highly structured manner is of the essence, as well as being comfortable using technology to set up automated processes to relieve yourself of admin.
  • Communicative: You will be juggling multiple projects simultaneously, and are expected to share information in a way where you are understood. You should therefore be confident in clear and concise communication, both spoken and written. English is required and Swedish is meritorious.
  • Collaborative: This is a supporting role and we are looking for someone who works well with others and can relate to others in a perceptive and adaptable way.
  • Flexible: We are working in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment where there is always something going on. We are looking for someone who can easily adapt to changing circumstances, quickly change their approach and take initiatives.
