We are looking for a librarian who is interested in developing and promoting our services related to scholarly communication and open science.

The role

The role of the Scholarly Communication Librarian is fundamentally collaborative. In this role, you will be working in an intellectual environment with ambitious and driven colleagues. We are committed to the continuing professional development of our team and work in a medium/small academic library with a large mission. This means that the tasks of our librarians are various and develop according to interests and organizational needs. While the focus of this position is on scholarly communication, we encourage candidates who have a broad interest in library services.

Main tasks

  • In collaboration with library colleagues, IT Services and Research Office, develop and manage our research management systems to meet current and future needs. As part of SSE’s goal to increase impact, we are implementing a new CRIS-system in 2022 and you will be part of the team that works with this important project.
  • Advocate for and instruct in our policies related to research output and open science.
  • Work in our cross-departmental support function for FAIR research data (a so called “data access unit”). The data access unit offers support in the areas of data management planning, general legal advice concerning data protection, description and sharing of data etc.
  • Additional various tasks according to interests and organizational needs, e.g. metadata tasks, bibliometric monitoring and work in the library’s customer service team.

Your profile

In order to be successful in this role, you need to have excellent collaborative skills and be service oriented as well as be genuinely interested in standards, systems and process-development. You have great problem-solving skills since you will be working with complex questions in a dynamic environment. A pedagogical approach to communication is also essential and you are comfortable with speaking in front of a group. You have a strong interest in the main areas within this role and have ambitions to grow and eventually take on more responsibility.

Requirements

  • Degree in Library and Information Science or equivalent education.
  • Knowledge of the scholarly publishing landscape, and specifically of the Open Science movement and its impact on the publishing landscape.
  • Knowledge of relevant metadata schemata and identifiers.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, in English and in Swedish.

Meritorious

  • Advanced courses in scholarly communication-related fields (e.g. research data management, bibliometrics, institutional repositories, open science).
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience of working with APIs are also pluses.
