Department of Finance

The Department of Finance at the Swedish House of Finance and the Stockholm School of Economics seeks applications for full-time pre-doctoral research analyst positions in empirical financial economics funded by the European Research Council and the Wallenberg Foundations, to start on or after 1 July 2025 (subject to agreement).

The positions will suit intellectually curious candidates who intend to gain experience of research in financial economics before applying to a top-level PhD program in finance or economics. As a research analyst, you will be working on cutting-edge data-intensive research projects in collaboration with fellow pre-docs and under the supervision of Professor Alexander Ljungqvist.

Our pre-doc positions serve as an ideal stepping stone to a top PhD program for ambitious students interested in empirical research in finance or economics. For example, this year’s two graduates of our pre-doc program are joining the finance PhD program at LBS.

The successful candidates will be based full-time in Stockholm.

Job qualifications

Applicants should be completing (or have recently completed) a Master’s degree in finance or economics and have strong quantitative skills. Outstanding programming skills are expected in both Stata and Python. Excellent spoken and written English is a requirement.
