The Information Security Officer (ISO) at the Stockholm School of Economics (SSE) plays a key role in strengthening SSE’s information security posture across research, education, and administration. This is a developmental position, ideal for a technically skilled security professional ready to step into a broader role that blends governance, risk management, and operational leadership.
You will be instrumental in shaping how SSE manages digital risks, supports compliance, and secures data and systems in a hybrid IT environment. You’ll work closely with IT, researchers, administration, and leadership, building your strategic capability while still engaging with the day-to-day security operations.

Responsibilities
- Develop and oversee the implementation of the organization’s information security strategy.
- Establish and enforce security policies, standards, and procedures.
- Assist in performing risk assessments, maintaining a security risk register, and following up on mitigation plans.
- Help ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and frameworks (e.g., GDPR, ISO 27001, NIS2).
- Serve as the primary point of contact for security audits and regulatory inquiries.
- Be a point of contact for everyday security questions from departments and teams.
- Work with vendors and project leads to support third-party risk management.
- Manage incident response planning and execution.
- Promote a culture of security awareness across the organization.
Your profile
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Information Security, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 2–4 years of experience in technical or operational security, e.g., as an Information Security Specialist, Systems Administrator with security responsibilities, or similar.
- Familiarity with risk management, GDPR, and frameworks like ISO 27001 or NIST.
- Strong communication and documentation skills in English (Swedish is a plus).
- A desire to grow into a more strategic, leadership-oriented role over time.
Meritorious
- Exposure to higher education or research environments.
- Experience with Microsoft 365 security tools (e.g., Defender, Purview, Entra ID).
- Ongoing or completed certifications such as CISSP, CISM, ISO 27001 Lead Implementer, or CompTIA Security+.
